TWICE member and actor Dahyun has been cast as the lead in the upcoming Korean youth romance film Gurumi-i Gureumi, according to her agency JYP Entertainment. Newsis reported on October 22 that Dahyun will play Gureum, a bright high-school student who uses a wheelchair and belongs to her school’s art club. Actor Cha Woo-min will co-star as Junsan, a promising swimmer carrying a private emotional wound. The story follows the two teenagers as they gradually expand each other’s worlds. The production is being directed by Choi Sun-min, who previously worked as a co-director on the JTBC dramas King the Land and The Atypical Family.

The project is being positioned as a youth romance, but its premise places disability and adolescent vulnerability at the center of the relationship rather than treating them as a minor plot device. The film’s central characters come from different personal circumstances: Gureum is portrayed as energetic and emotionally resilient, while Junsan is a competitive athlete dealing with difficulties that are not immediately visible to others. For Dahyun, the film is another step in a screen career that began to draw wider attention with the 2025 movie You Are the Apple of My Eye. She has since continued building acting credits through the film Full Speed and the JTBC drama Love Me. Her casting also adds interest for TWICE fans, but the production’s current announcement focuses on the character and story rather than on music-related promotion.
Gurumi-i Gureumi is currently in production and is targeting a 2027 release. No specific release date, distributor or festival premiere has been announced in the report. Korean films often finalize those details closer to completion, particularly when post-production and theatrical scheduling are still underway. The project arrives at a time when idol performers continue to move between music, television and film. Dahyun’s role will give audiences a chance to assess her performance in a feature-length dramatic part, while the film’s premise may appeal to viewers looking for a coming-of-age story built around friendship, romance and the ways young people respond to one another’s differences.
