Stray Kids Skip Grammy Submission Despite Having Voting Rights

Stray Kids will not submit music for the 69th Grammy Awards, according to their agency JYP Entertainment and Korean entertainment reports published October 2. Because Grammy consideration begins with an official submission, the group’s releases will not be eligible for nomination this cycle. The decision has drawn attention because all eight members were reportedly named Recording Academy voting members in July.

That status allows them to participate in Grammy voting, but it does not automatically place their own music in the awards race. The group had been mentioned by Billboard as a possible contender for the new Best Asian Pop Music Performance category. The Recording Academy has said it will retain that category for the upcoming ceremony, while BTS has also said it would not submit music.

Stray Kids’ reasons for not entering were not separately explained by JYP, so any connection to the new category remains unconfirmed.
