Suwon is preparing its annual reenactment of King Jeongjo’s royal procession, scheduled for October 4 as part of the Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival. The city’s official news service reported October 2 that local participants selected to portray King Jeongjo and Lady Hyegyeong are preparing to lead the event.

The procession recreates Jeongjo’s 1795 journey to visit his father’s tomb and honor his mother, Lady Hyegyeong. The historical trip is remembered as a major royal procession and is now presented through costumes, ceremonial performances and a large public parade.

The 2026 route is listed as running from Gyeongbokgung through Hwaseong Haenggung to Yungneung, covering about 59 kilometers across Seoul, Suwon and Hwaseong. Visitors should expect traffic controls and possible bus-stop restrictions along parts of the Suwon route on the event day.
